Department of Military Science Theory
Research
Department of military art develops the military science in the areas of military art and the military. Science-pedagogic personnel have been involved in the scientific research projects at national as well as international level. The effort is focused to fulfil the requirements and needs of national defence and development of armed forces.
In the area of military art (military strategy, operational art and tactics) the research is aimed to the field of concepts generation support, strategic studies, generation of prognoses of future conflicts and operations, generalization of experiences from the past, recent-past as well as current wars and conflicts and approaches to the development of operational capabilities and ways of employment of armed forces.
As far as the military history is concerned, the scientific work is aimed to the fields of the 1st, 2nd and the 3rd Czechoslovak resistance movement. Its results are published in the forms of professional monographs, studies and essays, and they are utilized in the process of education, preliminary in the subjects from the areas of military art and the traditions of the Army of the Czech Republic.
Members of our Department have been acting as the leaders and members of the teams to deal with a number of following research projects:
- TASK FORCE – “Employment of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic under national command on the territory of the Czech Republic after sending specified units to NATO Task Forces abroad” (200??-2002)
- PERSPECTIVES – “Perspectives od evolution of security situation, military branch and defence systems till 2015 with the outlook to 2025” (200??-2003)
- Grant Agency Research Project – “Army in the struggle for politic power in the Czechoslovakia during 1045 – 1948” (2003-2005)
- NATO RTO SAS-066 „Joint Operations 2030“ (2006-2010)
- Grant Agency Research Project – “Involvement of the Czechoslovak military emigrants in the struggle for restoration of democracy after February 1948” (2010-2012)
- OPERKON – “Operational concepts of the Armed Forces of CR in joint operations” (2010-2012)
Currently the members of our Department have been involved in following projects:
- Organization development project: “Possibilities of utilization of the military history in the preparation of professionals to form the required personal characteristics based on the examples significant personalities of the second and the third resistance movement”
- Organization development project: “Trends of the generation of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic linked to the development of security environment”
- NATO STO SAS-096international project: „Key Performance Indicators in Measuring Military“ Outputs“
- Specific research project: „Draft and implementation of the virtual model of the operation environment stressing the civilian factors and its incorporation to the process of education and training of the commander and his staff“
Members of our Department are involved in the implementation of the “Innovation of the Master’s study program of the Faculty of Military Leadership” project that is a part of the “Education to enhance competitiveness” Operation program.
Our department cooperates with scientific research installations and universities, e.g. MU Brno, UP Olomouc, Silesian University in Opava, Institute for Contemporary History AV, Central Military Archives, Military History Institute in Prague, Military History Institute in Bratislava, Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš.
