Logistics Department Expert Day
On 19 April 2022, the Department of Logistics hosted the „Expert Logistics Day“, which was held in the spirit of logistics support for foreign operations and humanitarian logistics. Among the invited guests were not only representatives of the Army of the Czech Republic, but also members of the General Directorate of the Fire rescue service of the Czech Republic.
After the opening address by the Deputy Head of the Department of Logistics, Ltc. Martin Novotný, who welcomed the guests and introduced the main objective of the Expert Logistics Day, the member of the Joint Forces Command, Captain Martin Grulich, spoke. He introduced the present students of the 4th and 5th year of specialization in Military Logistics and Military Transport to the operation of the multinational battle group in Slovakia. The main topics discussed were the provision of accommodation and accommodation of soldiers in a foreign operation, the provision of storage facilities, fuel dispensing and ammunition stores within the allocated space of the battalion in Slovakia.
The following lecture was presented by Major Marek Grešák from the Operations Support Centre of the Operations Command. „Our main task is to ensure the organisation of logistic support to units abroad in accordance with their requirements, to carry out decentralised purchases of assets and services, to plan and execute the transport of assets and equipment to/from foreign operations,“ said Major Grešák. However, issues related to the repair of equipment abroad or training of logistics expertise for operations were also discussed.
Colonel Martin Legner from the General Directorate of the Fire Rescue Corps spoke about the logistics of fire protection units during deployment in emergencies. The focus was on the management of large-scale emergencies in connection with the occurrence of a tornado in the South Moravian Region, a fire in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the provision of humanitarian aid in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
At the end of the Logistics Expert Day, the Deputy Head of the Department, Lieutenant Colonel Novotný, said, „All the presentations were very engaging, full of practical experience, which allowed you, the students, to combine theoretical knowledge in the field of logistics with practice.“ He then thanked the attendees for their active approach and the guests for their presentations and invited all present to the next Expert Day on Logistics, which will take place in November 2023.
